Search of Chinese herbal medicines with immunomodulatory properties

Project Summary:
Drug-like compounds derived from natural herbs have been extensively investigated for their therapeutic potential in the clinical practice of ethnopharmacological treatment, such as artemisinin against malaria and triptolide against rheumatoid arthritis. However, most herbal medicines were prescribed in accordance with Chinese medicine principles. Although some of them have been reported effective in the treatment of patients with autoimmune disorders, the targets and underlying mechanism are largely elusive. This project aims to collect the published evidence of Chinese herbal medicines with immunomodulatory potentials.
