Identifying active compounds and molecular mechanisms of Chinese medicine in the treatment of kidney diseases
ABSTRACT
1. Background
Chinese Medicine (CM) has been widely used for centuries in the management of kidney diseases. Increasing evidence from clinical and preclinical studies suggests that CM and its bioactive compounds may have therapeutic potential for various kidney disorders. This project aims to identify active compounds derived from CM and evaluate their effectiveness in treating kidney diseases, particularly acute kidney injury and diabetic nephropathy. Through a combination of comprehensive literature review and laboratory experiments, this study will investigate the pharmacological activities of selected CM-derived compounds and elucidate their underlying molecular mechanisms.
2: Research Questions
– Which active compounds in Chinese Medicine contribute to therapeutic effects in kidney diseases?
– What molecular mechanisms are responsible for the renoprotective effects of these compounds?
