ABSTRACT

Archaeologists study the human past through material remains, like architecture and pottery. This project focuses on data processing from a real archaeological excavation in the South Caucasus country of Armenia, dealing with 3000 to 1500 year old materials. In the project, a student will contribute to digital data processing and analysis of these ancient materials towards their interpretation about what happened in the past in that area. Digital data work may involve 3D modeling, file management, and spatial analysis, among other tasks. Students will also read articles about archaeological sites to try to situate newly collected data into information that has been interpreted by other archaeologists at other sites.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
