ABSTRACT

***Background and Purpose***
Atmospheric turbulence strongly influences weather, air quality, aviation safety, and wind energy, yet it remains difficult to measure at refined spatio-temporal scales using traditional ground-based instruments. This project aims to investigate the use of a drone as flexible, low-cost platforms for measuring and analyzing atmospheric turbulence in the bottom atmosphere (atmospheric surface layer). By collecting data such as wind speed, temperature, humidity, and pressure at different altitudes and geographical locations, the study will assess turbulence patterns and their variability.

***Research Questions***
1. How accurately can a drone measure atmospheric winds and turbulence?
2. How does turbulence vary with height, geographical locations, and environmental conditions?
3. What are the statistical and spectral characteristics of atmospheric dynamics?
