Abstract:
1. The origin, evolution, and habitability of life in the universe is a profound quest for humanity. The search for life on Mars seeks to address the question: Are we alone, and could there have been a second origin of life in our solar system?
2. How should we begin our approach by studying an analog? What biosignatures could Martian life produce that can be detected by remote sensing or Mars sample return?
