Abstract:

Crosslinkers are critical to the mechanical properties of the polymeric materials. Currently, most of the studied polymer crosslinkers are based on a linear structure featuring functional groups of various interacting strength and exchange kinetics.

In this project, we will design and synthesize new polymer crosslinkers based on macrocycles, so as to exploit their well-define shape, controllable interactions and specific topology for exploring novel polymer materials with unprecedented properties.

Skills and experience required for the project:

Chemistry major students with experience in organic synthesis, compound purification, and spectroscopic analysis (e.g. NMR, UV-Vis, MS).
