Examining the use of Gesture-Verbal Therapy (GVT) among people with aphasia in Hong Kong

Abstract:
This research project examines the use of gesture-verbal therapy in the treatment of aphasia in Hong Kong. It evaluates the effectiveness of integrating gestures with verbal cues to enhance language skills following a stroke. The study aims to contribute to the development of culturally appropriate therapeutic methods for Cantonese-speaking individuals with aphasia. Conducted through face-to-face interactions, the research includes designing intervention materials, conducting tests, and collecting data from native Cantonese speakers with aphasia.
Skills and experience required for the project:
interviewing skills and/or client testing experience, linguistic/ video data processing skills/experience, native speaker of Cantonese, background in speech-language pathology is preferred
