Speech-On: An application designed to assist Cantonese-speaking individuals with aphasia in word retrieval

Abstract:
This project introduces Speech-On, a mobile application aimed at supporting Cantonese-speaking individuals experiencing aphasia with word retrieval challenges. The app offers tailored exercises and interactive prompts to facilitate language practice and improve vocabulary access. The study evaluates the usability, engagement, and therapeutic potential of Speech-On through user testing with individuals with aphasia. The goal is to provide a culturally relevant digital tool that complements traditional speech therapy and helps users regain communication confidence.
Skills and experience required for the project:
interviewing skills and/or client testing experience, linguistic/ video data processing skills/experience, native speaker of Cantonese, background in speech-language pathology is preferred
