Use of gamified rehabilitation to facilitate swallowing training
ABSTRACT
Swallowing difficulties are common in post-stroke survivors, head and neck cancer suvivors, and individuals with dementia. Swallowing exercises are important to facilitate swallowing functions improvement, yet these exercises are often repetitive and patients lack motivation to practice on their own. Gamified rehabilitation is shown to motivate patients to increase exercise adherence through engaging in fun and interactive games. This project aims to investigate the effect of gamified swallowing rehabilitation in different dysphagic populations. Students will be engaged in games development and assisting in data collection with different populations.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Students from any discipline are welcomed, students should be ready to interact with patients with swallowing difficulties and with interest in games development.
